DONATE

Your gift keeps our trails groomed, our kids skiing, and our Nordic community thriving. Donate today to keep winter alive in Durango.

Dear Durango Nordic Community,

As you know, the 2025-2026 ski season was painfully short. The snow arrived much later than any of us hoped and melted far too quickly, leaving the Nordic Center open for only ten days rather than our usual eighty or more.

As the President of the Board of Directors, I want to share the reality of how our club works. The Nordic Center serves as the engine of the Durango Nordic Ski Club. Revenue from the Center supports everything we do, from kids' school groups to senior programs and everything in between. This income, combined with the dedication of our volunteers, supporters, and sponsors, is what allows us to keep Nordic skiing and snowshoeing accessible to the greater Durango community.

Without that revenue, Durango Nordic’s ability to serve the community is at risk. Our staff and volunteers are experts at running a tight ship, but we are committed to fixed expenses like youth coaching and groomer payments regardless of the weather. Never in recent history have we had to do so much with so little.

Your financial support will help us bridge this gap.

As we are a federally-recognized non-profit organization, your donation is tax-deductible. Regardless of the amount that you are able to give, your support helps to ensure that the club, its programs, and the Nordic Center survive into our next season.

It truly was a joy to see so many of you out there this year, filling every one of those days with months' worth of pent-up excitement and gratitude. That flurry of activity was a wonderful reminder of our community's enthusiasm, the quality of our trails, and the sheer talent of our grooming team, who work wonders with even the tiniest snowfall.

I also want to thank our volunteers and the staff who were ready to leap into action the moment snow appeared in the forecast. Their dedication allowed us to take full advantage of that short season and was a beautiful reminder of what we can do when we work together.

Our community has a long history of sticking together to allow the club to grow and thrive. We have been serving Southwest Colorado for over seventy (!) seasons, from cutting our first trails in the 1950s to saving the Nordic Center by taking over operations in the 1980s, right through to today. During that time, we have nurtured first-time skiers into life-long participants and fostered Olympic hopefuls. With your help, we will be here serving that mission for many seasons to come.

Thank you for your passion for our trails, our community, and your continued support of Durango Nordic. This winter was a difficult one but with your help, we intend to make next season our best one yet.

Sincerely,

Marc Basiliere
President of the DNSC Board of Directors
