Closing day approaches

What a season! Thanks to everyone for the support this year. Thanks to Mother Nature for providing more ❄️❄️❄️ than we can recall in recent memory. It snowed today at the center - whiteout conditions in fact - so writing a closing day post is ironic to say the least.

Last day of center operations will be this Sunday, March 24. We're planning a final groom on Sunday and then grooming operations will cease for the year.

We know some diehards will want us to continue grooming beyond this weekend but grooming is expensive, and this time of year trails will pool with melt during the day and then hard freeze at night. Our daily visits have dropped dramatically and no longer support continuing operations further for the year. Plus, the skiing conditions will deteriorate rapidly and we don't want to put our users at risk.

We're hearing crust skiing at Vallecito and other locations is quite good right now as an alternative.

Enjoy a few final days to the 2018/2019 season. Think snow for next year. Get some storage wax onto your skis and dust off the bikes. The Iron Horse is only two months away! Thanks for being part of our club!
